Effective Thursday, January 4th, Union Ridge Elementary will implement a new process for pickup of students at dismissal.  Watch the video explaining the new procedure.

\r\n

Whether students walk home with someone who meets them at school or are picked up by car, the new process will ensure that students are picked up efficiently and with safety in mind.  At dismissal, teachers will send students who need to be picked up to the basketball court next to Building B, which will be the designated waiting area.\r\n

\r\n

Walk-Ups\r\n

\r\n

Parents who park and cross the pickup lane or who walk to school will be able to pick up their students from this waiting area.  To ensure that staff know where students are at all times during this process, it is important that parents meet students only at this designated waiting area.  Please be sure to use crosswalks at all times.\r\n

\r\n

Car Pickup\r\n

\r\n

Paper nameplates will be provided to parents who pick up their students by car.  The nameplate, which will display the names of the student(s) being picked up, should be placed on the car dashboard (passenger-side) when entering the pickup lane.  Please drive slowly.  Once the car approaches the loading zone, a designated teacher will read the nameplate and radio the student(s) to come forward from the waiting area.\r\n

\r\n

Students will be allowed to approach the loading zone only if the designated teacher has radioed for them to come forward and the car is in the loading zone.  It is important that parents refrain from calling to their students to come forward before this occurs.\r\n

\r\n

Students can only be picked up from the loading zone.  Pickup of students by car from any other area on Union Ridge’s campus will not be allowed.\r\n

\r\n

Thank you for your support and assistance in following the new guidelines.  With everyone’s cooperation, the student pickup plan will run smoothly when it is implemented on January 4th.\r\n
