View Ridge Middle School Eighth Grader Places Second in Library's Fall Writing Contest
Friday, October 28, 2016

Erin Van Natta, an eighth grader at View Ridge Middle School, was honored on Saturday, October 22 for her writing entry in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library’s fall writing contest, Imagined Ink. The awards ceremony took place at the Awards Celebration & Author Visit featuring Gary D. Schmidt in the library’s downtown Vancouver location.

Imagined Ink is an annual writing contest for youth in Grades 6-12 in the Fort Vancouver Regional Library district. The entries were reviewed by a panel of judges, and prizes were awarded to winners in two age groups: Middle School Division (Grades 6-8) and High School Division (Grades 9-12).

Erin’s story, entitled “Infection”, is about a spider and the havoc it creates when it crawls into a human ear. Her entry placed second in the Middle School Division.

Jill Guccini, View Ridge Middle School and Ridgefield High School librarian, was on hand at the awards ceremony when Erin’s award was announced. She commented on how great it was to see a student from View Ridge place second in her division within a library district that serves all of Clark County and beyond.
