The Ridgefield Family Resource Center (RFRC) has been awarded a $2,000 Found Money grant from Our Kids of Southwest Washington.

The resource center, located between Union Ridge Elementary School and View Ridge Middle School, provides emergency relief services for Ridgefield children and families in need by providing food, clothing and toiletries and to raise awareness of available assistance services in the surrounding area.

It is the result of a community partnership between the Ridgefield School District, Compassion 360 and the Ridgefield Church of the Nazarene and is fully supported by donations and volunteers.

RFRC Director, Chris Poppert, said she learned of the grant opportunity from Trina Latshaw, a board member of Our Kids of Southwest Washington who is also a Ridgefield community member with children in the school district.

“She came to visit the RFRC and was impressed with the resources we were providing our community,” said Poppert. “The idea of the grant is to give organizations the opportunity to provide an activity that they would not normally be able to do due to funding.”

Ridgefield Family Resource Center was awarded the grant after presenting its plans to use the funds to help the students they serve purchase gifts for the upcoming holidays.

“We were happy to receive the grant,” said Poppert. “I appreciate the generosity of Trina and the entire Our Kids of Southwest Washington Board for giving us such a wonderful opportunity for our students.”
