RHS students with Technical Theatre Director Shelle House at the annual Thespy awards

Ridgefield High School Thespians prepared and presented 27 diverse pieces in both theatrical performance and technical knowledge on January 17th at the regional Southwest Washington Thespys competition. Twenty-three of our students’ entries earned state and national recognition in their individual events. All RHS Thespians qualified for the upcoming state competition in Seattle March 11-13 in group performance events.

Pieces selected from our honorees will be performed on Thursday, January 29 at 7:00 in the RHS Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.

Our students’ exceptionally high level of achievement at this regional event is evidence not only of our Thespians’ talent, skill and creativity, but also of their work ethic, ability to collaborate as a team, and willingness to grow through experience and experimentation.

Marie Martinez achieved the highest possible score for both her Musical Theatre performance, and her Lighting Design technical event. This crossover of theatrical skill and talent is representative of RHS Thespians’ diversity and team spirit which emphasizes student ownership and empowerment to move fluidly through distinct roles in the practice of theatre. We wish to extend a special congratulations to Marie!
