Ridgefield School District is proud to celebrate first grade teacher Brigid Taylor, who has advanced to the semifinals for the national America’s Favorite Teacher competition! You can submit your vote to help Brigid advance in the competition here.

Known for her creativity, passion for education, and dedication to hands-on learning, Taylor creates meaningful experiences that help students connect classroom lessons to the world around them. Through partnerships with local organizations, civic leaders, volunteers, and businesses, she regularly brings real-world learning opportunities into her classroom.

“Brigid’s passion for education and commitment to creating authentic learning experiences are at the heart of everything she does,” said Principal Angie Gaub. “She helps students see that learning extends far beyond the walls of the classroom and empowers them to recognize the important role they can play in the world around them.”

Taylor frequently welcomes guest speakers and volunteers into her classroom to help students better understand the place they call home and how they can positively contribute to it. She partners with Friends of the Library to connect students with reading mentors and also leads an after-school garden club through Ridgefield School District’s Community Education program.

Her work with organizations such as the Lions Club, Ridgefield City Council, the Police Activities League (PAL), and local parks leadership has helped create unique learning experiences for students. Lessons often connect directly to projects happening in Ridgefield, including math activities tied to local parks and persuasive writing projects where students share ideas for future park development.

The impact of Taylor’s classroom can be seen throughout Ridgefield. Student artwork is regularly displayed in local businesses and grocery stores, and local leaders—including Ridgefield’s mayor—have visited her classroom to engage students in social studies and civic learning opportunities.

“Even in first grade, Brigid helps students understand that their voices matter,” Gaub said. “She creates opportunities for students to build confidence, make connections, and see how they can make a positive impact on others.”

Taylor’s connection to Ridgefield extends beyond the classroom. She lives in Ridgefield and is raising her family in the community she serves. Her dedication to building strong relationships between schools, families, and local organizations reflects the values that make Ridgefield a special place to learn and grow.

Ridgefield School District congratulates Brigid Taylor on this outstanding recognition and thanks her for the lasting impact she continues to make on students and families every day.
