Union Ridge Elementary School 2nd grade teacher Kristen Sullens was recently recognized as one of three finalists for the ESD 112 Regional Teacher of the Year award, an honor that highlights outstanding educators from across Southwest Washington.
As part of the final selection process, ESD 112 representatives Effie Triol and Weslee Vann visited Kristen's classroom last week to observe a Wit & Wisdom lesson and see her teaching in action.
Kristen was nominated for her unwavering commitment to putting students at the center of every decision she makes. She is known for creating a classroom environment where all learners feel seen, valued, and supported, while maintaining high expectations and fostering a love of learning.
“Kristen's passion for education and dedication to her students make her an exceptional teacher,” said Union Ridge Principal Angie Gaub. “She works tirelessly to ensure every student has the support they need to succeed, and we are thrilled to see her recognized as one of the top three finalists in the region.”
Although Kristen was not ultimately selected as the Regional Teacher of the Year, being named one of the region's top three finalists is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to the positive impact she has on students, families, and colleagues. ESD 112 will present Kristen with a certificate in recognition of her achievement.
The Ridgefield School District congratulates Kristen on this well-deserved honor and thanks her for the difference she makes in the lives of students every day.
