Dear Ridgefield Families,

\r\n

I would like to start this letter with a big thank you to all of our parents who have had students attending in-person learning since January 5th.  As of yesterday, the District has taken over 25,000 thermal temperature checks and all but two at the high school have passed the initial two-part screening.  Thank you for following the recommendations of the District as well as health professionals in keeping your students home when not well.  Because of your diligence, we can continue to offer safe and sensible in-person classes.

Ridgefield athletics are on the move.  As many of you know we are currently in season one, with season two rapidly approaching.  It is wonderful watching all the athletes participate in their sport of choice, even if the crowds are slightly smaller than normal.  Hopefully, you have had a chance to watch some of the competitions through our live stream links for home games.  This Saturday there are a number of big games taking place.  Our boys’ tennis team will be competing at Mark Morris starting at 10:00 am, the football team has a 2A Greater St. Helen’s League showdown with Hockinson at 1:00 pm (at Battle Ground), the volleyball team travels to face Woodland beginning at 4:00 pm, and girls’ soccer hosts RA Long in first-round playoffs at 7:00 pm.  Click here to follow the football, volleyball and soccer games live.  What a wonderful weekend for Ridgefield sports.  Go Spuds! \r\n

\r\n

We are two weeks into our 5th annual Ridgefield Youth Arts Month (RYAM), with a little more than two weeks left.  If you have not already checked out the various course offerings, please use this link (click here) to learn more.  It is not too late to sign-up for an activity.\r\n

\r\n

Quick reminder, next Friday (March 19) was initially a non-school day, but due to the inclement weather closure earlier last month it is now a regular school day.\r\n

\r\n

I continue to enjoy the student photos so many of you are sharing with the District.  I love that I am able to incorporate many of them in our weekly newsletters.  For those that have not submitted before, this coming week is your chance.  St. Patrick’s Day is on Wednesday, March 17th - so this week's photo challenge is to capture a green-themed photo.  Good luck!  Please share those photos via the email address: student.photos@ridgefieldsd.org.\r\n

Stay well and remain #RidgefieldResilient.

\r\n

Sincerely,

Dr. Nathan McCann\r\n
